Thanks to these folks who have helped Sampaguita and her supervisor voyage and to keep the blog alive and inspired. I’ve only provided initials. They know who they are. I have added a note as to how each contribution helped. Thank you so much.

January 2024

R.N., S.S., L.B., and D.W. contributed in January to help out with Sampaguita’s solar refurbishing. Tom Bodett would be proud of you for keeping the lights on for Sampaguita.

L.B. also extended my subscription to the blog. Give a fool a microphone and who knows what they’ll say.

February 2024

G.W. covered the cost of getting Sampaguita’s registration express mailed from Port Townsend to La Paz. That covered shipping and the sender’s time. Mexico tip. Never use first class mail. Ever. You’ve got to pay the big bucks if you want to actually receive something.

M.H. used Zelle. His donation very nearly covered the cost of Sampaguita’s yearly registration. (The one shipped above.) She’s now good up to June 2025. An absolute requirement to travel internationally. I ran into dead-ends with the US government on documenting her. Being non-commercial and below 5-tons, they were disinterested.

J.S. helped cover the cost of the kayak warranty parts from Boise, ID. They sent the first ones first class mail. (see above) They agreed to resend them, but I would have to pay the express shipping. I just received them yesterday. Now I have two functioning tenders. They are pretty important so the redundancy is good. Similar to the solar panels, things get tough fast when they go bad. Unlike in the US, these items just aren’t readily available in other parts of the world.

K.G.’s contribution went toward the FedEx shipping of my new French Polynesia paper charts from Minnesota. Tom Hanks and Wilson would approve.

A.W. came through for Sampaguita and Paola. Their contribution will cover bottom cleaning costs with the remainder being applied to Mexico check out fees with the Capitania de Puerto and settling up my API anchoring fees, facilitating the next step of the voyage.
